Discover around 450 km of hiking trails such as the “Zwölferkopfsteig”, the “Forstweg Bärenbadalm, or trails leading into the different valleys of the Karwendel mountain range. This is a guarantee for a boredom-free family holiday. Pertisau by lake Achensee is the vantage point of your excursions.

The Region around lake Achensee is perfect for climbers.

Take the Rofan Seilbahn (Rofan cablecar) in Maurach for your hike to the “Erfurter Hütte” or the Karwendel Bergbahn (Karwendel cablecar) in Pertisau to get to the starting point of your hikes. Mountains such as the “Gamskarspitze (2,098 m), the “Rappenspitze” (2,223 m), or the “Bärenkopf” (1,991 m) are the perfect challenge for summiteers. All mountains offer via ferratas of various degrees of difficulty.

Strong north winds (3 to 5 Beaufort) enable wind- and kitesurfing in the afternoon. You may also enjoy an excursion on a ship of the local cruise and ferry company “Achenseeschifffahrt”. Pertisau is home to Austria’s largest sailing club.

Anglers or sport fishermen have the possibility to rent a boat at lake Achensee: Due to the large fish stocks, you won’t be disappointed at the end of the day.

If you prefer two wheels, you also won’t come off badly at Hotel Bergland. Discover 250 kilometres of cycling trails in the midst of the Alps. Find mountain bike trails suitable for beginners but also for advanced mountain bikers.

Be delighted by forest tracks and meadow paths and conquer an ascent of up to 500 m and enjoy your speedy downhill ride.

The Golfclub Achensee is located proximate to Hotel Bergland and is one of Austria’s most beautiful and challenging 18-hole golf courses. It is also popular among professional golfers.

Feel the spirit of adventure at the “Gleitschirmschule Achensee” (Achensee paragliding school). Experienced teachers will introduce you to the “art of flight”. Beginners may get an insight with an introductory course, whilst pros can choose between several advanced courses and tours. No matter if you want to go for a single-handed or a tandem flight, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

By the way: There is a landing site right in front of Hotel Bergland’s outdoor dining area!

If – contrary to expectations – the weather is bad, there are many interesting museums to visit around the lake. Use your time to increase your knowledge. Explore the “Achenseer Museumswelt” (Achensee museums) in Maurach, the “Heimatmuseum Sixenhof” (Sixenhof Museum of local history) in Achenkirch, the “Swarovski Kristallwelten” (Swarovski Crystal Worlds), or the “Notburga Museum” in Maurach/Eben.
